USF Verftet offers a residency to professional artists of all fields. The aim is to strengthen, promote and develop collaborations between contemporary artists in Bergen and foreign artists.
IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION October 2026:
We are having challenges securing funds for Artist in Residence Bergen at USF Verftet. In 2026 we (The foundation kulturhuset USF Verftet) have been running on our own resources + with a small amount from Bergen municipality. For 2027 we are - at the moment - back on zero funding. Update about possible residencies 2027 will come in December. Please write a short note to air@usf.no to join the list for information.
Who can apply
The residency is open to professional, foreign artists of all fields: visual artists, writers, curators, craft artists, writers, film directors, film makers, dancers, choreographers, stage performers, performance artists, composers, musicians, audio and new media artists. The residence is open to all international artists, except norwegian citizens or artists living in Norway. Please note: the residency does not have universal accessibility standard, as there is a steep spiral staircase to the apartments.
We always emphasise the connection between visiting artists and local artists / art organisations/institutions. For the application deadline 2026 we put extra weight on this.
